What's an Agency

Just what is a "Modeling Agency"?

A modeling agency is similar to a temporary employment agency. We are the middle person between the client and the model, therefore, we screen and test all of our models before they see the client. The agency does not make any money unless we generate jobs for our models. Our agency makes 20 percent commission off the jobs we offer to our talent. Our model's rate ranges from $12 to $150 hour plus.

Does a model act as an "Independent Contractor"?

Models are independent contractors which gives them the opportunity to accept or reject modeling job assignments. If you pursue the modeling profession, it can be used as a tax shelter enabling you to become eligible for claiming tax deductions. You are responsible for your own taxes.

What is the "Proper Attitude"?

The best attitude to have when pursuing the modeling profession is that it is a paying hobby. You should pursue modeling for the fun of it. Not because you want to make a lot of money or be the next Cindy Crawford. Chances are slim that you will become famous. Modeling is great for self improvement, not only do you learn all the techniques for modeling jobs, but you learn how to apply cosmetics, find the perfect hair style, learn poise, and how to project a positive attitude, marketing, sales, photography, and more.

Since there are no guarantees in modeling, one should pursue it solely for enjoyment; that way if something big comes out of it, you will be truly excited. Having the wrong attitude will only lead to disappointment.
